Who Is The Source?

While the works of Alice A. Bailey carry her name as an author, in truth, and by her own testimony, there is a difference between the works of Alice Bailey, per se, that she wrote, and the works of Djwhal Khul (DK), otherwise known as “The Tibetan,” that she transcribed. Note: It is important to realize that despite his name, and being the Abbot of a Buddhist monastery, in the works of Alice Bailey, “The Tibetan” is not teaching Tibetan Buddhism. DK presents his work within this context as being the ageless wisdom. In the presentations of the Higher Alignment Inner Circle our focus will be on the more substantial works of DK.

Why Should We Read Alice Bailey?

These works are valuable because they bring together the traditional spiritual thought of both the East and the West into new synthetic truth. Often they anticipate or corroborate pertinent aspects of 20th century thought. For instance, Carl Jung, who was the first articulator of personality types in the modern world, introduced Attitudes: introvert and extrovert; Types: thinking, feeling, sensation, and intuition. (From Psychological Types, 1921). Myers-Briggs is based on this approach.
These works are also valuable for their standing, their ability to engage intelligent, widely-read Western readers, and their ability to challenge our thinking and find wisdom. As well, they are important because of their coherence in articulating cosmology, metaphysics, ethics, psychology, and the spiritual path in the modern world. This is especially true of the works that were written at the edges of modern knowledge, and were reportedly prepared for aspirants and initiates after the turn of the 20th century. They can enlighten our understanding of Higher Alignment, and help us appreciate the prescient significance of its teachings about personality integration and interpersonal relations.
