Personality Re-orientation: Laying the Foundation, Preparing the Way

Distortions of Action, Thought and Desire in Poor Choices

Before we develop our Authentic Life Expression, we must heal and re-orient our Personality Self. Our Authentic Life Expression is compromised by parents, teachers, and our heroes and heroines. We accomplish this by adopting the expectations, goals and dreams of others over our own. By attaching to their actions, identifying with their thoughts, and idealizing others’ passions, we become actors, performers and dreamers. As we imitate others, we are shaped by guilt, shame and blame in a society that does not see us. When we do not explore and accept our creativity, we cannot respond to possibilities that would transmute, transform and transfigure the evolution of our gifts.
We also limit our Authentic Life Expression by conditioning, defenses and pretenses. Conditioning cuts us off from our energy, defenses cut us off from time, and pretenses cut us off from our inner experience. The more we invest in denying our Life, Light and Love expressions, the greater our distortions in action, thought and desire. The cost is that we do not enjoy our contributions, so everything becomes stressful work. Or we are frustrated by never producing what we desire. Our personality programming, adapting to the pressures in the world, teaches us to be small or to overdo our imbalances to justify past choices. Once we start down the path of reactive compromise, it is difficult to re-establish our creative balance. What we need is a re-orientation of our personality to break out of inaccurate preconceptions and rebuild our intent, content and context so conscious, complete choices can be made.
On the instinctive level, unconscious conditioning makes us Actors who avoid risk and fear by creating a false preconception of safety. Lacking Aliveness, we default to patterns of excitement, which creates a polarity between sensations and feelings, producing isolation and loneliness. The answer is to develop Aliveness through our 6 Creative Impulses. On the intellectual level, defenses make us Performers, over-and-under thinking to build a false sense of security. Lacking wisdom and truth, we default to intensity, despite our serious attempts to bring order to our lives. The answer is to embrace the autonomy of our 6 Creative Values. On the idealized level, pretenses make us Dreamers, seeking to look good so others will believe we have what it takes. The real answer is to activate our creative responsiveness through 3 Creative Virtues.
Conscious Alignment requires that we not be distracted from our purpose. Creative Impulses support playful self-discovery and change that allow us to pay attention to what matters. Creative Values require investment in growing our own code of conduct and defining appropriate boundaries. This allows us to acknowledge that our wisdom develops over time by placing ourselves in areas of joyful opportunity. Creative Virtues inspire effortless striving (without attachments and positions) so that how we show up has presence and conscious impact. It is not so much what we do, or how we relate, but the way in which we influence and connect.
Our Authentic Life Expression is how we contribute in a way that both fulfills us and supports creative flow with others. We spend time initially preparing our inner space so it is easier to manifest an external contribution with others. Most people find it difficult to shift their attractions and approaches without this sequence of preparation and re-orientation. These are the ways in which we align our inner selves and re-orient our Personality Self to fully prepare for the development and expansion of our Authentic Life Expression.
