7 Creative Expressions, Pacing, Decision Making Approach, Communication Process, Goals, Modes and Attitudes

When we grow up we tend to imitate our parents in order to get acknowledged and seen. The problem is we get attention for being something we are not. These Imprinting patterns are like weeds in our gardens, which overshadow our actual Creative Gifts. While we may get attention for these behaviors, others tend to react negatively to these patterns, unless they have the same kind of Imprint. Most of the time the Imprint is a superficial attempt to look a certain way or do a certain thing without authentic follow-through. As infants, we attempt to copy our parents’ Goals, Modes and Attitudes. In later childhood (7-14) we begin to focus on Pacing, Decision-Making Approach and Communication Process. The Imprints we will focus on here are regarding our seven Creative Expressions.

Parents Believe Babies Are The Same As Them

Some Even See Them As Possessions

Unconscious parents project on their babies everything that they have been denied and everything they want their babies to be. This mirroring process is how babies establish a connection to their parents. Infants sense their parents’ fears and desires and attempt to be reassuring and supportive by doing whatever makes their parents feel better about themselves. This traps the child into compromising themselves to make their parents feel better, but do not know or appreciate their own Authentic Nature. Most children, based on their needs for safety and security, learn to accept this compromise in order to guarantee the support of their parents. It takes a degree of Autonomy and consciousness for parents not to over-identify with their children. This can happen in three ways: Disengagement (identifying with negative aspects of the child), Enmeshment (identifying with positive aspects of the child) or Disaffiliation (comparing positive and negative aspects to self).

Increases Confusion & Isolation

When we try to get attention from our parents, it is by doing something we see them doing. These attempts to copy our parents become layered and confused because there is little aligned motivation behind our actions. When we are being ourselves, our motivation is clear and our patterns have integrity, purpose and direction. On the Mental Body level, the creative impulse is to manifest Safety. On the Secondary level, we try to manifest Security. At the Primary Creative Expression level we seek fulfillment and Creative Flow. Depending on our parents’ ability to be authentic, we will be impressed by their Safety, Security and creative needs and confused by their imprinting patterns. Sometimes, it is just a matter of mimicking simple patterns that make us look better to them. Other times, as we grow up, it is to prove we can do what they may have had difficulty accomplishing. In this case, imprinting is deeper. What confuses and isolates us the most are contradictory imprints.

What we need to do is be true to ourselves without needing others’ acceptance.
